Valletta
Valletta is an important town and is set along the southeastern coastline, and called the fortress city.
Valletta resides in the most southernmost part of any capital in Europe and also the smallest city of the European Union!
Valletta is a city built by “Gentlemen for Gentlemen” and has many claims to fame.
The Maltese capital has a flamboyant Baroque character, influenced by all different types of architecture. Also, there is absolutely no shortage of historical wonders here.
The most recommended places to visit in Valletta are St John’s Co-Cathedral and museum, the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, or taking the ferry to the Three Cities – the trio of the fortified cities of Birgu, Senglea, and Cospicua.
Gozo Island
Ghawdex is the 2nd largest island of 7 islands Archipelago. Gozo was discovered around 5000 BC by some Sicilian Farmers. Gozo is not that developed as South of Malta.
Gozo is known for more of the scenic hills, countryside walks, a Feb carnival, and excellent beaches making Gozo the top diving destination in MED.
Ggantija Temples were built during the Neolithic period, which means belonging to the giants, and are believed to be the world’s oldest religious structures. According to locals, they were created by the giants.

Also, don’t forget to visit the Baroque Cittadella Cathedral and the onyx covered Żebbuġ church – the second-oldest consecrated church in Gozo.
Mdina
The fortified city of the Northern Region. Mdina served as Malta’s capital all through the Middle Ages until St. John declared Birgu as the administrative center.
Today, Mdina is a walled city and less than 300 inhabitants.
Phoenicians were established in the 8th century BC as Maleth, later named Melite by Romans. Finally, the city came under Byzantines and is known for some stunning palaces and private residences.
Mdina, today is flocked by tourists as over 7,50,000 tourists visit there every year. The city is called a silent city as, except for Ambulances or residents, Mdina doesn’t allow any outside cars.
Take your time exploring the city walls, the Roman Catholic St. Paul’s Cathedral, and the French Baroque Palazzo Vilhena.
Mellieha Bay
It is one of the most northernmost villages of Malta and is set up across a hilltop. Mellieha Bay is the largest sandy beach in Malta.
The valley offers some of the most ridiculous valley views of gorgeous and quaint villages.
Mellieha is an incredible destination to visit especially if you are seeking a traditional Maltese village experience close to the beach.
Hiring a car is recommended if looking for exploring the 19th-century Parish Church of Mellieħa, the 16th-century Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mellieħa, and the Red Tower, which offers some sensational views.
Some other places worth visiting are the Għadira Nature Reserve, Il-Majjistral Nature, and History Park, and visit the Mellieħa air-raid shelter – the largest of the 46 shelters built during World War II.
